Bitcoin Holds Steady Above Crucial Threshold Ahead of Key Events

The price of Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive outlook above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as pivotal for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, market observers are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this level through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is scheduled to expire. Analysts at Marex noted, 'The ceasefire is set to end on Wednesday evening Washington time, and the market must consider two paths: extension and de-escalation versus renewed escalation and oil stress. This is why, even with BTC performing strongly, the market can still experience rapid fluctuations. It's a headline risk with a timer.' An escalation could push oil prices above the March high of $119, potentially causing Asian and global equity markets to plummet. The question remains whether Bitcoin, which remained relatively stable around $70,000 during the March conflict, will continue to show resilience or come under pressure alongside the broader market. As of the latest update, no Iranian delegation had departed for talks in Pakistan. President Donald Trump warned of a significant escalation in the conflict if the ceasefire ends without an agreement. Another key event on analysts' radar is the nomination hearing for Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his stance as an 'inflation hawk' who opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing following the 2008 financial crisis. His comments during the hearing could significantly impact markets. Digital assets trading firm QCP Capital stated, 'His remarks could act as a near-term catalyst, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing.' In the broader cryptocurrency market, major coins such as ether (ETH), solana (SOL), and XRP (XRP) have seen less than a 2% increase over the past 24 hours, underperforming Bitcoin. Smaller tokens like XLM and TON have risen by more than 5% each, with the CoinDesk Memecoin Index increasing by over 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index added 2%, a surprising move given the industry-wide fallout from the weekend hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token as collateral on several DeFi platforms. Decentralized lender Aave has been hit the hardest, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, a drop of nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined by 18% to $93 since the hack. At the same time, open interest in futures tied to the token reached a record high of 3.59 million tokens, indicating potential for more volatility ahead. Currently trending is the daily price movement of XRP, which remains below both its 100-day average and the prolonged bear market trendline, even as market leaders Bitcoin and ether have surpassed these levels on their respective charts. Until XRP's price reclaims both the 100-day average and the downtrend line, its momentum will remain weaker compared to BTC and ETH, which have established firmer bullish structures.
