Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Again, Finds Second Bitcoin Block

A pioneering bitcoin mining pool, designed to challenge traditional payment models, has achieved a significant milestone by mining its second block. Parasite Pool, launched in April 2025, has now mined block 945,601, roughly 48 days after its first block at #938,713 in late February. This block contained 7,398 transactions and earned 0.002 BTC in fees, with bitcoin trading at $76,213 at the time. The pool operates on a unique hybrid model, where the winning miner receives 1 BTC, and the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees are distributed proportionally among all participants based on their shares submitted since the previous block. With no fees to participate and payouts routed through the Lightning Network, Parasite Pool is an attractive option for miners. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, aims to support home miners, providing an alternative to industrial-scale operations that dominate the mining landscape. By splitting the block reward, Parasite Pool aims to provide a more consistent income stream for participants, while still offering the potential for a significant payday. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, and its ability to retain hashrate through the 48-day gap between payouts is a promising sign. As the mining landscape continues to evolve, Parasite Pool's innovative approach will be closely watched, and a third block within the next two months could solidify its position as a viable alternative to traditional mining models.
