Crypto Trading Gets a Boost with DoubleZero's High-Speed Data Platform for Solana
The DoubleZero Foundation has unveiled a new platform designed to accelerate the dissemination of crypto market data to trading firms, marking a significant step towards adopting Wall Street-style systems in the digital asset space. The DoubleZero Edge platform, launched on Thursday, offers a real-time feed of raw data from the Solana blockchain, thereby granting traders expedited access to information that can impact prices. By collaborating with validators, DoubleZero Edge taps into Solana's high-speed blockchain, which generates substantial amounts of real-time data as transactions are processed, and distributes it more swiftly to market participants. Unlike traditional finance, which relies on specialized networks for high-speed data delivery, crypto markets largely depend on the public internet, resulting in potential delays and inconsistencies. DoubleZero aims to address this by establishing a dedicated system tailored specifically for on-chain data. According to the company, the new network can reduce data delivery times by tens of milliseconds, with more pronounced gains during periods of intense network activity. For high-frequency trading firms, even marginal speed enhancements can yield a competitive advantage. The platform operates by transmitting data via a private fiber network using multicast, a method commonly employed in traditional financial markets to simultaneously distribute data to multiple participants. In addition to enhanced speed, DoubleZero is introducing a novel economic model, wherein Solana network validators can earn supplementary revenue by providing data to the platform, while traders subscribe to the feeds using USDC. The launch coincides with the growing demand for reliable and predictable infrastructure among crypto trading firms, as competition intensifies and profit margins shrink. DoubleZero's system has the potential to level the playing field by minimizing uncertainty regarding the speed at which market data reaches participants. As Andrew McConnell, DoubleZero's co-founder, noted, 'Traditional finance has invested decades in developing infrastructure where speed and deterministic performance are significant competitive advantages. On-chain markets lacked this foundation, leaving even sophisticated trading firms operating on uneven ground. Deterministic infrastructure eliminates a risk that market makers must factor in, resulting in tighter spreads and improved execution.'
