Bitcoin Surpasses Crucial Threshold Amid Warsh Hearing and Geopolitical Tensions

Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive outlook above the $75,000 mark, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as pivotal for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, analysts are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this threshold through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. The impending deadline has introduced a layer of uncertainty, with the potential for oil prices to surge beyond the March high of $119, which could send Asian and global equity markets into turmoil. The resilience of bitcoin, which held steady around $70,000 during the March conflict, is being closely watched. As of now, no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a significant escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Meanwhile, the nomination hearing for Kevin Warsh as Federal Reserve chair is scheduled for Tuesday, and his stance as an 'inflation hawk' could influence market expectations. His remarks may act as a near-term catalyst, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In the broader market, major cryptocurrencies such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen modest gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. Smaller tokens, including XLM and TON, have risen by more than 5% each, and the CoinDesk Memecoin Index has seen a gain of over 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index has added 2%, despite the industry-wide fallout from the weekend hack of KelpDAO, which resulted in the attacker draining rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been significantly impacted, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, a decline of nearly $10 billion since the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has dropped 18% to $93, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, pointing to potential volatility ahead.
