DoubleZero Brings Wall Street-Style Trading Technology to Crypto with Solana Data Platform

The DoubleZero Foundation has introduced a new platform, DoubleZero Edge, designed to accelerate the delivery of crypto market data to trading firms, signaling a growing need for high-speed systems in digital asset markets. Launched on Thursday, the platform's initial offering is a real-time feed of raw data from the Solana blockchain, providing traders with quicker access to information that can impact prices. By collaborating with validators, DoubleZero Edge taps into Solana's system, distributing data more rapidly to market participants. Unlike traditional finance, which relies on specialized networks for high-speed data delivery, crypto markets largely depend on the public internet, resulting in potential delays and inconsistencies. DoubleZero aims to address this by building a dedicated system tailored for on-chain data. The company claims its network can reduce data delivery times by tens of milliseconds, with more significant gains during periods of high network activity. For high-frequency trading firms, even minor speed improvements can result in a competitive advantage. The platform operates by transmitting data via a private fiber network using multicast, a method commonly used in traditional financial markets to distribute data to multiple participants simultaneously. In addition to enhanced speed, DoubleZero is introducing a new economic model, where Solana network validators can earn extra revenue by supplying data to the platform, while traders pay to subscribe to the feeds using USDC. The launch coincides with crypto trading firms' increasing demand for more reliable and predictable infrastructure, particularly as competition intensifies and margins tighten. DoubleZero's system could help level the playing field by reducing uncertainty in how quickly market data reaches participants. According to Andrew McConnell, a co-founder of DoubleZero, 'Traditional finance has spent decades developing infrastructure where speed and deterministic performance are a significant competitive advantage. On-chain markets lacked this foundation, leaving even sophisticated trading firms operating on uneven ground. Deterministic infrastructure eliminates a risk market makers must factor in, leading to tighter spreads and better execution.'
