Parasite Pool Mines Second Bitcoin Block, Validates Hybrid Model
A novel bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has successfully mined its second block, reinforcing the effectiveness of its hybrid model. This approach differs from traditional models by rewarding the block finder with 1 BTC and distributing the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees among all participants. The pool's design aims to provide a more equitable distribution of rewards, encouraging participation from home miners. The second block, which contained 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, was mined roughly 48 days after the first. The pool operates without fees, and payouts are made through the Lightning Network. This achievement demonstrates the potential of Parasite Pool's model, which seeks to balance the interests of individual miners and the collective. As the bitcoin mining landscape continues to evolve, the success of Parasite Pool may pave the way for alternative models that prioritize fairness and accessibility.
