Bitcoin Sees Nearly $1 Billion in ETF Inflows, Boosting Bullish Sentiment Amid DeFi Concerns
Market trends are presently indicating a favorable outlook for bitcoin, currently valued at $77,833.03, despite recent developments in Iran and DeFi hacks making headlines. U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw an influx of $663 million on Friday, the largest since January 15, with total inflows reaching $996 million for the week, up from $786 million the previous week, according to SoSoValue data. This suggests robust interest from institutional investors in the leading cryptocurrency. For a significant price surge to occur, this trend must be sustained. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, 'consistent ETF flow regimes are crucial, as they signal structural demand when sustained and tactical positioning when intermittent.' Bitcoin is currently trading above $75,000, following highs of over $78,000 on Friday, with prices remaining relatively stable over the past 24 hours, a pattern also observed in ether, XRP, Solana, and other major tokens. The AAVE token of DeFi platform Aave has dropped 1% to $90 due to the KelpDAO hack, while the DeFi dominance rate remains at around 3%. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, notes that 'pressure on the leading cryptocurrency is linked to negative reactions in stock markets to Iran news, reducing risk appetite, with BTC lagging behind equities and building potential.' The U.S. seizure of an Iranian cargo ship has further impacted market sentiment. Traders are actively building short positions, which could lead to a 'short squeeze' if prices hold steady, potentially pushing spot prices higher. A key level to watch is $95.16, the low registered in April for Solana, which has remained below this level for 11 consecutive weeks, indicating sustained bearish sentiment and potential for deeper losses. A strong move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is necessary to invalidate the bearish outlook.
