Bitcoin Holds Above Crucial Level as Market Waits for Warsh Hearing

Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive trend above the $75,000 threshold, a level that CoinDesk has identified as pivotal for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, some analysts are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this level through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. According to analysts at Marex, the market is pricing in two potential scenarios: an extension and de-escalation of the conflict, or a renewed escalation that could lead to increased oil prices and market volatility. This 'headline risk with a timer' could result in sudden price swings, even if bitcoin appears strong. The situation is further complicated by the fact that no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a major escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Meanwhile, all eyes are on Kevin Warsh's nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chair, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his 'inflation hawk' stance, having opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing in the past. His remarks during the hearing could have a significant impact on the market, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In other news, major cryptocurrencies like ether, solana, and XRP have seen modest gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. However, smaller tokens like XLM and TON have risen by more than 5% each, and the CoinDesk Memecoin Index is up over 3%. The DeFi Select Index has also added 2%, despite the recent hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been particularly affected, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, down nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, pointing to potential volatility ahead.
