Bitcoin Sees Nearly $1 Billion Influx as DeFi Concerns Escalate

Market trends are presently favoring a positive outlook for bitcoin, trading at $79,057.75, despite geopolitical tensions and DeFi security breaches making headlines. Notably, U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw an influx of $663 million on Friday, marking the largest intake since January 15, with total inflows reaching $996 million for the week. This surge underscores strong institutional interest in the cryptocurrency. For a significant price surge to occur, sustained inflows are crucial. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, consistent ETF flow regimes are key to signaling structural demand. Bitcoin's price has stabilized above $75,000 after reaching highs over $78,000 on Friday. Similar stability is observed in other major tokens like ether, XRP, and Solana. However, the DeFi platform Aave's token has seen a 1% drop to $90 following the KelpDAO hack, with the DeFi dominance rate remaining steady at around 3%. Analysts attribute the current pressure on bitcoin to negative stock market reactions to Iran-related news, reducing risk appetite. Meanwhile, traders are building short positions, potentially setting the stage for a 'short squeeze' if prices remain steady. The recent seizure of an Iranian cargo ship by the U.S. has further impacted market sentiment. Technical analysis of Solana (SOL) shows a critical level at $95.16, which has acted as resistance since February. A move above this level, accompanied by increased trading volumes, is necessary to reverse the bearish outlook, with the next major support level at $50.
