Bitcoin Sees Significant ETF Inflows Amid DeFi Concerns, Fueling Bullish Sentiment
The current market trends continue to indicate a positive outlook for bitcoin, trading at $78,787.33, despite recent developments in Iran and DeFi hacks. Notably, U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw an influx of $663 million on Friday, marking the highest intake since January 15, with total inflows reaching $996 million for the week. This surge suggests robust institutional interest in the cryptocurrency. For a substantial price increase to occur, sustained inflows are necessary. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, 'consistent ETF flow regimes are crucial, as they signify structural demand and tactical positioning.' Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable over the past 24 hours, hovering above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday. Similar stability is observed in other major tokens such as ether, XRP, and Solana. However, DeFi platform Aave's token has dropped 1% to $90 following the KelpDAO hack. The DeFi dominance rate remains steady at around 3%. Analysts attribute the current pressure on bitcoin to negative stock market reactions to Iran-related news, which has reduced risk appetite. Meanwhile, traders are building short positions, anticipating a potential 'short squeeze' if prices remain stable, potentially driving spot prices higher. The U.S. seizure of an Iranian cargo ship has also impacted market sentiment. In technical analysis, Solana's weekly price swings indicate a key level at $95.16, which has acted as resistance since February. The inability to surpass this level suggests sustained bearish sentiment, with the next major support level at $50. A significant move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is necessary to counter the bearish outlook.
