The White House's primary crypto adviser, Patrick Witt, has stated that efforts are underway to solidify the compromise that will propel the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act forward in the U.S. Senate.
In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground reached on stablecoin yield will endure, paving the way for the resolution of other outstanding issues. While bankers have raised concerns about the potential impact on their deposit base, Witt believes that the compromise will hold, allowing for progress on other key aspects of the bill, including illicit financial protections in the DeFi space and restrictions on government officials' involvement in the crypto sector. Although some issues have already been resolved, Witt declined to specify which ones, citing significant progress in ongoing negotiations. The Clarity Act's advancement is contingent upon a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee, which has been delayed due to objections from bank lobbyists.
Despite these challenges, Witt remains confident that the remaining issues can be resolved, citing the progress made so far as a positive indicator.
