Cryptocurrency Trading Gets a Boost with DoubleZero's High-Speed Data Platform for Solana
The DoubleZero Foundation has introduced a groundbreaking platform designed to accelerate the delivery of crypto market data to trading firms, marking a significant step towards adopting Wall Street-style systems in digital asset markets. Dubbed DoubleZero Edge, this innovative platform went live on Thursday, offering its first product: a real-time feed of raw data from the Solana blockchain. This development allows traders to access vital information that can impact prices more quickly. Solana, renowned for its high-speed blockchain, generates vast amounts of real-time data as transactions are processed. By collaborating with validators, DoubleZero Edge distributes this data more rapidly to market participants. Unlike traditional finance, which relies on specialized networks for high-speed data delivery, crypto markets have largely depended on the public internet, resulting in potential delays and inconsistencies. DoubleZero Edge aims to revolutionize this setup by establishing a dedicated system tailored specifically for on-chain data. According to the company, its network can reduce data delivery times by tens of milliseconds, with more significant gains during periods of high network activity. For high-frequency trading firms, even minor speed enhancements can provide a competitive edge. The platform utilizes a private fiber network and multicast, a method commonly employed in traditional financial markets to simultaneously distribute data to multiple participants. Beyond speed, DoubleZero Edge also introduces a new economic model, where Solana network validators can earn additional revenue by supplying data to the platform, while traders subscribe to the feeds using USDC. The launch of DoubleZero Edge comes at a time when crypto trading firms are increasingly seeking more reliable and predictable infrastructure, particularly as competition intensifies and margins tighten. By reducing uncertainty in how quickly market data reaches participants, DoubleZero Edge's system could help level the playing field. As Andrew McConnell, co-founder of DoubleZero, noted in a press release, 'Traditional finance has spent decades building infrastructure where speed and deterministic performance are a real competitive advantage. On-chain markets didn't get that foundation, which left even sophisticated trading firms working on uneven ground. Deterministic infrastructure removes a risk market makers have to price in, which leads to tighter spreads and better execution.'
