Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Again, Finding Its Second Bitcoin Block

A revolutionary bitcoin mining pool, designed to challenge traditional mining models, has achieved a significant milestone by mining its second block. Parasite Pool, which launched in April 2025, operates on a distinctive hybrid model that combines elements of both pay-per-share and lottery-style approaches. On Friday, the pool successfully mined block 945,601, which included 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, with the block reward being distributed according to the pool's innovative mechanism. The winning miner received 1 BTC, while the remaining 2.125 BTC, plus fees, were split proportionally among all pool participants based on their contributions. This approach aims to provide a more equitable distribution of rewards, eliminating the need for fees and utilizing the Lightning Network for payouts. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, a well-known figure in the bitcoin community, created Parasite to cater to home miners, offering an alternative to the dominant industrial-scale mining operations. By preserving the lottery-style payday for the block finder while ensuring consistent rewards for participants, Parasite Pool's model has now been validated twice, with the second block carrying significant weight in demonstrating the pool's effectiveness. As the mining landscape continues to evolve, Parasite Pool's innovative approach may paved the way for a new generation of mining pools that prioritize fairness and accessibility.
