DoubleZero Unveils High-Speed Data Platform for Solana, Bringing Wall Street Trading Tech to Crypto

The DoubleZero Foundation has launched a novel platform designed to accelerate the dissemination of crypto market data to trading firms, signaling a growing demand for traditional financial systems in digital asset markets. Dubbed DoubleZero Edge, the platform became operational on Thursday, initially providing a real-time feed of raw data from the Solana blockchain to grant traders expedited access to information capable of influencing prices. As a high-speed blockchain, Solana generates substantial amounts of real-time data as transactions are processed, which DoubleZero taps into by collaborating with validators to distribute the data more rapidly to market participants. Unlike traditional finance, which relies on specialized networks for high-speed data delivery, crypto markets predominantly depend on the public internet, a setup prone to delays and inconsistencies. DoubleZero aims to revolutionize this by establishing a dedicated system tailored specifically for on-chain data. According to the company, the new network can reduce data delivery times by tens of milliseconds, with more significant gains during periods of intense network activity. For high-frequency trading firms, even minor speed enhancements can translate into a competitive advantage. The platform functions by transmitting data over a private fiber network utilizing multicast, a method commonly employed in traditional financial markets to distribute data simultaneously to multiple participants. Beyond speed, DoubleZero is also introducing a novel economic model, wherein Solana network validators can earn additional revenue by supplying data to the platform, while traders subscribe to the feeds using USDC. The launch coincides with crypto trading firms' increasing quest for more reliable and predictable infrastructure, particularly as competition escalates and margins contract. DoubleZero's system could potentially level the playing field by minimizing uncertainty regarding the speed at which market data reaches participants. As stated by Andrew McConnell, DoubleZero co-founder, 'Traditional finance has spent decades developing infrastructure where speed and deterministic performance are a genuine competitive advantage. On-chain markets lacked this foundation, leaving even sophisticated trading firms operating on uneven ground. Deterministic infrastructure eliminates a risk market makers must factor in, resulting in tighter spreads and improved execution.'
