Bitcoin Holds Above Crucial Level Ahead of Warsh Hearing
Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive outlook above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as vital for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, market observers are advising caution, suggesting that prices must remain above this level through Wednesday, when the US-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. Analysts at Marex noted that the market is pricing in two possible scenarios - an extension and de-escalation of the conflict, or a renewed escalation and increased oil prices. This uncertainty could lead to significant market fluctuations. The situation is further complicated by the upcoming nomination hearing for Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, known for his hawkish stance on inflation. His comments during the hearing could have a significant impact on the market, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In the broader cryptocurrency market, major coins such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen limited gains, while smaller tokens like XLM and TON have risen by over 5%. The CoinDesk Memecoin Index has also seen an increase of over 3%. Despite the recent hack of KelpDAO, the DeFi Select Index has added 2%, although decentralized lender Aave has taken a significant hit, with its native token declining by 18% since the hack. The total value of crypto assets locked on Aave's platform has fallen to $16 billion, down nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Open interest in futures tied to AAVE has hit a record high, indicating potential for increased volatility ahead. Meanwhile, XRP remains below its 100-day average price and the prolonged bear market trendline, indicating weaker momentum compared to bitcoin and ether, which have established firmer bullish structures.
