Bitcoin ETF Inflows Surpass $996 Million, Fueling Bullish Sentiment Amid DeFi Uncertainty
Market trends suggest a positive outlook for bitcoin, currently trading at $75,534.64, despite concerns over Iran-related news and DeFi hacks. Last week, U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw significant inflows of $996 million, with $663 million on Friday alone, indicating robust institutional interest. For a substantial price increase, sustained inflows are necessary. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, consistent ETF flow regimes are more crucial than their magnitude, as they signal structural demand. Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable over the past 24 hours, with similar patterns observed in other major tokens like ether, XRP, and Solana. However, Aave's AAVE token has dropped 1% to $90 due to the KelpDAO hack, with the DeFi dominance rate holding steady at around 3%. The pressure on bitcoin is linked to negative stock market reactions to Iran news, reducing risk appetite. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, notes that BTC has lagged behind equities, building potential but not yet realizing it. Traders are actively building short positions, which could lead to a 'short squeeze' if prices remain steady, forcing traders to cover bearish bets and potentially pushing spot prices higher. The U.S. attack on an Iranian cargo ship has added to market uncertainty. In technical analysis, Solana's weekly price swings show a key level at $95.16, which has acted as resistance since early February. The fact that SOL has not yet climbed back above this level points to sustained bearish sentiment and potential for deeper losses, with the next major support seen at $50. A strong move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is needed to invalidate the bearish outlook.
