Poland's Prime Minister Accuses Zondacrypto of Influencing Legislation

Zondacrypto, a Polish cryptocurrency exchange, is under intense pressure after Prime Minister Donald Tusk alleged that the company has ties to politicians who opposed crypto market regulation. The exchange has been dealing with reports of frozen or delayed customer withdrawals since late March. In an attempt to address these concerns, CEO Przemysław Kral disclosed that the company owns a bitcoin wallet containing approximately 4,500 BTC, valued at around $330 million. However, the company is unable to access the funds due to a missing private key from former CEO Sylwester Suszek, who has been missing since 2021. Kral claims that the exchange has sufficient reserves and is profitable, but the situation has sparked a heated debate about the company's legitimacy. The controversy surrounding Zondacrypto has been ongoing, with the company facing investigations and warnings from regulatory authorities in the past. The latest developments have led to a surge in withdrawal requests, which the company attributes to coordinated media coverage and political pressure.
