Bitcoin Sees Significant Inflows as ETFs Pull in Nearly $1 Billion, Fueling Bullish Sentiment
Despite recent market fluctuations and concerns surrounding DeFi security, the outlook for bitcoin remains optimistic, with the cryptocurrency trading at $75,999.49. Last week, U.S.-listed spot ETFs experienced significant inflows of $996 million, marking a substantial increase from the previous week's $786 million, according to SoSoValue data. This surge in institutional investment suggests robust interest in the cryptocurrency. For a substantial price increase to occur, sustained inflows are necessary. As Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, notes, 'Consistency is more important than magnitude when it comes to ETF flow regimes, as sustained inflows indicate structural demand, while intermittent flows suggest tactical positioning.' Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable over the past 24 hours, hovering just above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday. Similar trends are observed in other major tokens, including ether, XRP, and Solana. However, the AAVE token of DeFi platform Aave has dropped 1% to $90 following the KelpDAO hack, resulting in collateral damage. The DeFi dominance rate remains steady at around 3%. According to Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, 'The pressure on bitcoin is linked to negative reactions in stock markets to news about Iran, reducing risk appetite. Although BTC has lagged behind equities, it has built potential for a breakout.' The U.S. attack on an Iranian cargo ship has further contributed to market uncertainty. As traders build short positions, betting against a breakout, the potential for a 'short squeeze' increases, which could push spot prices higher if prices hold steady. Meanwhile, the Solana chart reveals a notable level at $95.16, the low registered in April. With SOL remaining below this level for 11 consecutive weeks, technical analysis suggests that this previously supportive level may now act as resistance, limiting upside momentum and indicating sustained bearish sentiment. A strong move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is necessary to invalidate the bearish outlook.
