Bitcoin ETF Inflows Approach $1 Billion, Bolstering Bullish Outlook Amid DeFi Concerns
Despite recent headlines dominated by Iran-related news and DeFi hacks, the market outlook for bitcoin remains favorable, with the cryptocurrency trading at $76,114.71. Last week, U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw significant inflows of $996 million, up from $786 million the previous week, indicating strong interest from institutional investors. For a substantial price increase to occur, this trend must be sustained. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, sustained ETF inflows are a sign of structural demand, while intermittent flows indicate tactical positioning. Bitcoin's price has remained steady above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday. Other major tokens, including ether and Solana, have exhibited similar patterns. The AAVE token has dropped 1% to $90 following the KelpDAO hack, which has affected the DeFi platform Aave. The DeFi dominance rate has remained flat at around 3%. Analysts attribute the current pressure on bitcoin to negative reactions in stock markets to news about Iran, which has reduced risk appetite. However, this has built potential for a breakout. Traders are actively building short positions, which could lead to a 'short squeeze' if prices hold steady. In technical analysis, Solana's weekly price swings have been below the $95.16 level for 11 consecutive weeks, indicating sustained bearish sentiment and potential for deeper losses. A strong move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is necessary to invalidate the bearish outlook.
