Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, has stated that efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that will facilitate the advancement of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.
In a recent interview on CoinDesk TV, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground reached on stablecoin yield will endure, allowing lawmakers to focus on other outstanding issues. The Clarity Act had faced several potential hurdles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a proposal to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. Witt reported that significant progress has been made in addressing these issues, with many having been resolved.
The Clarity Act will require a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. Despite objections from bank lobbyists, which had delayed the process, Witt remains confident that the remaining issues can be resolved, citing the progress made so far as a positive indicator.
