Zero-knowledge proofs resolve this issue by enabling one party to verify the validity of a statement without revealing the underlying data. This means that a payment can be verified as valid, funded, and compliant without exposing the amount, sender, or receiver to the public ledger.

The XRP Ledger already has significant institutional traction, with users such as SBI Holdings, Zand Bank, Archax, and Guggenheim Treasury Services. The connection to Boundless provides these institutional users with a path to privacy that was previously unavailable. The timing of this integration is notable, given the current conversation around blockchain cryptography and the potential threat of quantum computing to traditional cryptographic assumptions.

Zero-knowledge proofs are built on different mathematical foundations and are considered quantum-resistant, positioning the XRP Ledger to build on more secure cryptographic foundations.
