Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Again, Uncovering the Potential of Hybrid Mining
The Parasite Pool, a bitcoin mining pool that diverges from traditional models, has achieved its second block, validating its innovative approach. Launched in April 2025, the pool has now mined two blocks, with the latest being block 945,601, which contained 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees. This hybrid model differs from mainstream mining by awarding 1 BTC to the winning miner and distributing the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees among all participants. The absence of fees and the use of the Lightning Network for payouts set it apart. Founded by ZK Shark, the creator of Ordinal Maxi Biz, an NFT collection on Bitcoin, Parasite targets home miners. By splitting the block reward, Parasite offers a middle ground between the lottery-style payouts of solo pools and the proportional distribution of traditional pools. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, accounting for roughly 0.005% of the estimated 1-zetahash network hashrate. As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to evolve, Parasite's model may provide a viable alternative for miners seeking consistent rewards.
