Parasite Pool Mines Second Bitcoin Block, Validating Hybrid Model

A novel bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has achieved its second block, demonstrating the effectiveness of its distinctive design. This pool, launched in April 2025, operates on a hybrid model that diverges from both the traditional pay-per-share approach and the pure lottery system. On Friday, the pool mined block 945,601, which included 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, with bitcoin trading at $76,213 at the time. The winning miner received 1 BTC, while the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees were distributed proportionally among all pool participants based on their shares submitted since the previous block. This model has no equivalent in mainstream mining and is designed to benefit home miners. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, is also the creator of the Ordinal Maxi Biz NFT collection on Bitcoin. Unlike pure solo pools, which pay the full block reward minus a fee to the finder, Parasite Pool's approach aims to strike a balance by preserving the lottery payday for the winner while ensuring satoshis are distributed to participants during the periods between blocks. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, accounting for roughly 0.005% of bitcoin's estimated 1-zetahash network hashrate. With this second block, Parasite Pool has validated its hybrid model, and a third block within the next two months would further solidify its effectiveness.
