Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, has stated that efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that could facilitate the advancement of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate. In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield will remain intact. Witt noted that resolving the yield issue was a necessary step before addressing other outstanding concerns, some of which have already been resolved.

The Clarity Act has faced several potential obstacles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been settled, he confirmed that significant progress has been made in the background negotiations. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association.

Witt acknowledged that the banking sector has a wide range of views on the issue, depending on their proximity to the technology.
