Watch XRP, Plasma, and DOGE as Bitcoin Remains Stagnant

With bitcoin currently trading at $75,563.34 and struggling to gain momentum near the $75,000 mark, other notable crypto projects are making significant strides. One of these is XRP, a payments-focused token utilized by Ripple for cross-border transactions. Notably, U.S.-listed spot XRP ETFs saw inflows of over $17 million on Wednesday, the highest since February 2, according to SoSoValue data. Although this is less than the inflows seen in bitcoin ETFs, it indicates a resurgence in demand for XRP after a prolonged period of low activity. Furthermore, Ripple has partnered with Kyobo Life Insurance to launch a pilot program for South Korea's first real-time tokenized government bond settlement system on blockchain. XRP's derivatives market is also showing bullish signals, with rising open interest and positive funding rates. The open interest has surged to 1.89 billion XRP, a level not seen since late March, as per Coinglass data. Another significant development is the stablecoin-focused layer-1 blockchain Plasma, which has become the world's seventh-largest blockchain by total value locked (TVL). At the time of writing, Plasma's TVL stood at $2 billion, representing a 27% increase over the past week and over 80% in the last 30 days, according to DeFiLlama. The growth driver is unclear but may be linked to rising optimism around the CLARITY Act nearing approval in the U.S., as noted by JPMorgan. The act aims to clarify the regulation of digital assets, including stablecoins. Additionally, Plasma has been selected, alongside Ethereum and Arbitrum, to support Tether's new self-custody wallet, Tether Wallet. Lastly, the meme-inspired token DOGE is experiencing low volatility, with Bollinger Bands at their tightest since February 2024, typically signaling a period of low volatility that may end with significant price swings. For bitcoin, the combination of on-chain profit-taking, uneven spot demand, and cautious options suggests continued range-bound trading near $75,000. It is essential to stay alert and monitor these developments. For further analysis of altcoins and derivatives, see Crypto Markets Today, and for a comprehensive list of events this week, see CoinDesk's 'Crypto Week Ahead.' The current trend is characterized by low volatility, with dogecoin's daily price swings showing a compression of Bollinger bands, signaling an extended period of low volatility that may eventually lead to a decisive breakout. This could result in a significant move, but the direction is uncertain.
