Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Again with Second Bitcoin Block
A pioneering bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has successfully mined its second block, affirming the effectiveness of its unique hybrid model. This approach combines elements of both the industrial pay-per-share and pure lottery systems, providing a middle ground for miners. On Friday, the pool mined block 945,601, containing 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, with bitcoin trading at $76,213 at the time. The winning miner received 1 BTC, while the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees were distributed proportionally among all participants based on their shares submitted. Notably, this pool operates without fees and facilitates payouts through the Lightning Network. By securing bitcoin through competitive cryptographic puzzle-solving, miners earn the right to add transactions to the blockchain and collect rewards. Parasite Pool's model is designed to appeal to home miners, offering an alternative to the dominant industrial operators and pure solo pools. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, aims to provide a more inclusive and rewarding experience for participants. With its second block mined, Parasite Pool has demonstrated the viability of its approach, retaining hashrate through the 48-day gap between payouts and validating its proportional distribution mechanics. As the pool continues to operate, its hashrate currently sits at 52 petahashes per second, the bitcoin community will be watching to see if this innovative model can sustain itself and attract more participants.
