World, a digital identity project backed by Sam Altman, has announced its most substantial upgrade to World ID, a "full-stack proof of human" system designed for individuals, businesses, and AI agents. This overhaul aims to address growing concerns over bots, deepfakes, and AI impersonation online. The upgrade introduces a redesigned architecture focusing on improved privacy, security, and usability, with features such as account-based identity, multi-key support, and recovery mechanisms. A new World ID app allows users to manage their credentials and authenticate across platforms seamlessly. The company is also expanding its partnerships, including with Tinder, where users can display a "verified human" badge, and with Zoom and Docusign to incorporate proof-of-human checks into digital meetings and agreements. Additionally, World is introducing tools like "AgentKit" to enable developers to attach human-verified credentials to agents, facilitating sensitive actions and agent-based commerce.
