Bitcoin's Price Boost from Ceasefire News Begins to Lose Momentum

The momentum behind Bitcoin's price surge, sparked by the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, is starting to wane as investors await tangible evidence of progress. Bitcoin's price, currently at $74,869.24, had briefly surpassed $76,000 before retreating, mirroring the choppy pattern seen on Tuesday. This stagnation follows a 10% increase primarily driven by the ceasefire announcement from the previous week. Despite ongoing optimism and President Donald Trump's suggestion that the conflict is nearing its end, negotiations to restore oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz have seen limited progress. According to QCP Capital, one of the world's largest digital asset market makers, 'a ceasefire extension alone is no longer sufficient; markets require concrete progress such as the restoration of energy flows, a reduction in crude premia, and clearer disinflation.' Until such progress is made, the situation remains one of partial normalization rather than full recovery, with traders advised to keep a close eye on oil prices for signs of normalization. The decline in Bitcoin and Ether's 30-day implied volatility indexes suggests traders are anticipating significant progress soon. Meanwhile, Solana (SOL) and DOGE could experience increased volatility due to the rise in open futures contracts, which often amplifies price swings. Alex Kuptsikevich, FxPro's chief market analyst, noted that Solana has significantly outperformed the market over the last day but has failed to consolidate above the $105 level, a necessary condition for a bullish victory. In traditional markets, the MOVE index, which measures U.S. Treasury note volatility, has decreased to 65%, reversing the war-led spike to 115% in March, a development that is bullish for risk assets. The stability in the U.S. bond market eases credit and financial conditions. Technical analysis of Bitcoin's hourly price action since March 31 reveals a steady upward trajectory with consistently higher lows, but the failure to produce a decisive breakout above $76,000 indicates potential exhaustion in bullish momentum, suggesting a possible double-top pattern. If the price dips below $73,300, it could confirm the double-top pattern, indicating a potential decline to $70,000. Conversely, a sustained move above $76,000 could strengthen the case for a rally to $88,000.
