The organization has introduced a new initiative designed to overcome a significant challenge in crypto development – the prohibitively high cost of conducting thorough smart contract security audits. Through its Audit Subsidy Program, the foundation has partnered with prominent audit providers and key ecosystem players to increase access to professional security assessments for developers.

With a $1 million subsidy fund in place, the program aims to alleviate the financial burdens that have historically hindered many teams from undertaking comprehensive audits, despite their importance in maintaining industry standards. This initiative is part of the foundation's broader Trillion Dollar Security Initiative, focused on bolstering Ethereum's security as it expands to support increasingly complex applications and larger on-chain value transfers.

The program boasts an impressive lineup of partners, including Nethermind, Chainlink Labs, and Areta, and connects developers with over 20 top-tier audit firms, streamlining access to trusted security expertise across the ecosystem. In conjunction with the program's launch, the foundation has also introduced the CROPS principles framework, an acronym representing censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security.

This framework is intended to guide the development and evaluation of applications within the Ethereum ecosystem. Developers can submit their projects for review, after which a committee of experts assesses the applications. Selected teams receive subsidies that can be directly applied to audit services via Areta's platform. The program is open to all Ethereum mainnet developers, regardless of their project's size or stage.
