Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, has stated that efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that will facilitate the progression of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate. In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the compromise on stablecoin yield, reached by key senators from both parties, will endure. This development is seen as a crucial step forward, as resolving the yield issue was a prerequisite for addressing other outstanding matters.

While bankers have raised concerns about the potential impact on their deposit base, Witt remains hopeful that the agreement will hold. The Clarity Act has faced several hurdles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the DeFi space and requests to prevent senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. Although Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been resolved, he acknowledged that significant progress has been made in the background negotiations.

The Clarity Act will require a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt noted that bankers have varying views on stablecoins, depending on their proximity to the technology, and that some may view them more positively than others.
