Parasite Mining Pool Scores Second Bitcoin Block, Proving Hybrid Model's Effectiveness

A revolutionary bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has achieved a significant milestone by mining its second block, thereby validating the effectiveness of its distinctive hybrid model. This model combines elements of both the industrial pay-per-share approach and the pure lottery system, offering a unique solution for miners. The pool's second block, numbered 945,601, was mined on Friday morning, roughly 48 days after its first block at #938,713 in late February. The block contained 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, with bitcoin trading at $76,213 at the time. The Parasite Pool operates on a novel hybrid model, where the winning miner receives 1 BTC outright, and the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees are distributed proportionally among all pool participants based on shares submitted since the previous block. Notably, there are no fees to participate in this pool, and payouts are made through the Lightning Network. The mining process involves computers competing to solve a complex cryptographic puzzle every 10 minutes, with the winner earning the right to add the next block of transactions to the blockchain and collecting a reward. Currently, this reward is 3.125 BTC plus transaction fees, valued at approximately $238,000 at Friday's price. The mining landscape is dominated by industrial operators with large-scale facilities and specialized ASIC hardware. However, Parasite Pool, founded by ZK Shark, targets home miners and offers an alternative to traditional mining pools. Unlike pure solo pools, which pay the full block reward minus a fee to the finder, Parasite Pool splits the difference, preserving the lottery payday while ensuring satoshis flow to participants between blocks. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, accounting for roughly 0.005% of bitcoin's estimated 1-zetahash network hashrate. The success of Parasite Pool's hybrid model has significant implications for the mining community, and a third block within the next two months would further solidify its effectiveness.
