The rise of quantum computing has sparked concerns about the potential risks it poses to blockchain technology. Experts suggest that XRP's architecture may be better equipped to withstand these risks than Bitcoin's. The XRP Ledger, which is an open-source, decentralized blockchain, has features such as key rotation and escrow that could help mitigate the threat of quantum attacks. A recent audit found that around 300,000 XRP accounts, holding approximately 2.4 billion XRP, have never sent funds and are therefore not exposed to the network.

However, dormant whale accounts that have transacted in the past may still be vulnerable. In contrast, Bitcoin's blockchain lacks a key rotation feature, leaving holders with limited options to protect their funds. While the threat of quantum computing is still largely theoretical, it highlights the need for blockchain developers to prioritize quantum resistance.
