Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, has stated that efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that will facilitate the progression of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.
In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground reached on stablecoin yield will endure, enabling the focus to shift to other outstanding issues. The Clarity Act had faced several potential obstacles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been resolved, he acknowledged that significant progress has been made in the background.
The Clarity Act will require a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. The White House economists have downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, which has been met with a response from the American Bankers Association.
Witt noted that the views of bankers on stablecoins vary widely, depending on their proximity to the technology.
