In a bid to bolster the security of the growing cryptocurrency industry, the US Department of the Treasury has announced that it will be sharing timely cybersecurity threat information with eligible crypto businesses. This move is aimed at helping these companies protect themselves against an increasing number of cyber attacks, which have become a significant concern for the financial system. The Treasury's Office of Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection will provide crypto firms with access to the same high-quality cybersecurity information that traditional financial institutions receive, enabling them to take proactive measures to prevent and respond to cyber threats.

The decision to extend this service to crypto companies follows a recommendation from the President's Working Group on Digital Asset Markets, which emphasized the importance of information sharing in mitigating cyber-attack risks. By promoting a more secure digital asset ecosystem, the Treasury hopes to foster a more responsible and trustworthy environment for cryptocurrency operations. The crypto sector has long been vulnerable to malicious hacks, with significant funds and data being stolen on a regular basis. Recent incidents, including the theft of over $280 million from the decentralized platform Drift, have highlighted the need for enhanced security measures.

The US government has been actively pursuing legislation to regulate the crypto sector, with digital security being a key area of focus.
