According to Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, efforts are underway to solidify a recently reached compromise, which he believes will facilitate the progression of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the US Senate. In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield will remain intact. He stated, 'We're hopeful that the compromise that has been reached will be durable and will hold.' Witt has shifted his focus to resolving other outstanding issues, some of which have already been addressed.

The Clarity Act had faced several potential obstacles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been resolved, he noted that significant progress has been made in the background. He expressed confidence that the remaining issues can be resolved, saying, 'All of these issues felt intractable and unsolvable at one point in time. So the fact that we've been able to close out a lot of them gives me confidence that we can close out these other ones, too.' The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote.

A recent report by White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that the banking sector has diverse views on stablecoins, with some members viewing them more positively than others.
