Tom Duff Gordon, formerly the vice president of international policy at Coinbase, a prominent U.S.-based cryptocurrency platform, has made the decision to leave the company. After nearly four years with Coinbase, Duff Gordon has taken up a new position as head of EMEA Policy at OpenAI, as confirmed by a Coinbase spokesperson via email. Prior to his tenure at Coinbase, Duff Gordon spent approximately 8.5 years working in banking at Credit Suisse. He was unavailable for comment at the time of inquiry.
As an authority on cryptocurrency regulations, Duff Gordon had previously highlighted the issue of U.K. banks restricting access to lawful and compliant services for millions of customers, due to their failure to differentiate between low-risk, Financial Conduct Authority-registered firms and higher-risk entities.
