This overhaul aims to address growing concerns over bots, deepfakes, and AI agents impersonating humans online. The system utilizes custom-built 'Orb' devices to establish proof of humanity, requiring users to visit an Orb in person for face and iris scanning to generate a unique cryptographic code. The update features a redesigned architecture focusing on improved privacy, security, and usability, with new features such as account-based identity and multi-key support. A dedicated World ID app is also being introduced to allow users to manage credentials and authenticate across platforms seamlessly. The company is expanding its partnerships with various platforms, including Tinder, where users can display a 'verified human' badge, and Zoom, which will use 'Deep Face' to verify meeting participants. Additionally, World is working with Docusign to incorporate proof-of-human checks into digital agreements, and with gaming and online communities to combat scalper bots and enhance bot detection.
