Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto advisor, stated that efforts are ongoing to solidify a compromise that could propel the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act forward in the U.S. Senate. In a recent interview on CoinDesk TV, Witt expressed optimism that the bipartisan agreement on stablecoin yield would endure, paving the way for addressing other outstanding issues. Although bankers had raised concerns about the potential impact on their deposit base, Witt believes that the compromise reached will be resilient.

The Clarity Act has faced several hurdles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the DeFi space and a proposal to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been resolved, he noted that significant progress has been made in the background. The negotiations have made considerable headway, and Witt is confident that the remaining issues can be addressed. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote.

A recent report by White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on stablecoins, depending on their proximity to the technology, and that some may view them more positively than others.
