The Aave community has put an end to a months-long governance dispute with the passing of the 'Aave Will Win' proposal, a landmark decision that will see 100% of revenue from all Aave-branded products returned to the DAO and consolidated under the AAVE token. This move effectively shifts the responsibility of funding Aave Labs' activities to the DAO and has been hailed as a major victory for token holders. The proposal, which has been described as the most important in Aave's history, aims to create a more streamlined and equitable system, with all revenue generated by Aave's user-facing products being redirected back to the community.
The decision comes after a controversy in December, when it was discovered that swap fees had been quietly redirected away from the community treasury. The 'Aave Will Win' proposal puts an end to this practice, ensuring that all protocol revenue, which totaled $140 million in 2025, will be supplemented by application-layer revenue from Aave Pro, Aave App, Horizon, and Aave Kit.
The Aave community has also approved a $25 million stablecoin grant and 5,000 AAVE token allocation to Aave Labs. With this new framework in place, Aave is poised to become a fully token-centric platform, with a focus on creating a more transparent and community-driven decision-making process. The proposal's passing has been seen as a major step forward for the Aave community, with founder Stani Kulechov stating that it will help to prevent 'value leakage' and ensure that all revenue generated by the platform is returned to token holders. The Aave community is now looking to the future, with plans to invest in new technologies, such as agentic AI infrastructure, and to expand the platform's offerings to include a 'fintech-like experience' with $1 million account protection per user and a card that will generate fees for the treasury.
