Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, stated that efforts are ongoing to solidify a compromise that could propel the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act forward in the U.S. Senate. In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the stablecoin yield compromise reached between key senators from both parties will endure.

He noted that resolving this issue was essential before addressing other outstanding concerns, some of which have already been resolved. The Clarity Act has faced several potential roadblocks, including illicit financial protections in the DeFi space and a request to prevent senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been settled, he acknowledged that significant progress has been made in the background. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote.

White House economists recently issued a report downplaying the threats posed by stablecoin yield, which was met with a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt believes that the views of bankers on stablecoins vary widely, depending on their proximity to the technology.
