According to Patrick Witt, the White House's primary crypto adviser, efforts are ongoing to solidify the compromise that will facilitate the advancement of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.

Witt noted that several other issues are being addressed behind the scenes. In a recent interview on CoinDesk TV, Witt expressed optimism that the compromise reached on stablecoin yield will endure, stating that resolving this issue was a prerequisite for tackling other outstanding matters.

Witt has shifted his focus to these remaining issues, some of which have already been resolved. The Clarity Act had faced potential obstacles, including protections against illicit financial activities in the decentralized finance space and a request to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. Although Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been settled, he mentioned that significant progress has been made in the background while the yield debate between banks and crypto firms garnered attention. Witt expressed confidence that the remaining issues can be resolved, given the progress made so far.

The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. Earlier this year, the process was delayed due to objections from bank lobbyists regarding stablecoin yield.

Recently, White House economists released a report downplaying the threats posed by stablecoin yield, which was met with a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt noted that bankers have varying views on the issue, depending on their proximity to the technology.
