Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, stated that efforts are underway to solidify the recently reached compromise, which he believes will facilitate the progression of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the US Senate. In a CoinDesk TV interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield will endure. He noted that resolving this issue was a prerequisite for addressing other outstanding concerns, some of which have already been resolved. The Clarity Act had faced multiple potential obstacles, including illicit financial protections in the DeFi space and a request to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector.
Although Witt did not specify which topics have been settled, he mentioned that negotiations have made significant progress in the background. He expressed confidence that the remaining issues can be resolved, given the progress made so far. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote.
Recently, White House economists released a report downplaying the threats posed by stablecoin yield, which was met with a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on the issue, depending on their proximity to the technology.
