According to Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, efforts are underway to solidify a compromise that could facilitate the advancement of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate.

Witt, who is also the executive director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, stated that several other issues are being addressed behind the scenes. In a recent interview, Witt suggested that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield appears to be holding. He expressed hope that the compromise will endure, allowing progress on other outstanding issues. The Clarity Act has faced several potential obstacles, including concerns about illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request from Democrats to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector.

While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been resolved, he noted that negotiations have made significant progress in the background. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt acknowledged that bankers have varying views on the issue, depending on their proximity to the technology.
