Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, stated that efforts are ongoing to solidify the compromise that he believes will propel the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act forward in the U.S. Senate. In a CoinDesk TV interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield will remain intact.

He noted that resolving this issue was a prerequisite for addressing other outstanding matters, some of which have already been resolved. Witt acknowledged that besides the stablecoin yield debate, the Clarity Act faced other potential hurdles, including illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request from Democrats to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector.

Although Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been settled in the ongoing negotiations, he mentioned that considerable progress has been made in the background. He expressed confidence that the remaining issues can be resolved, given the progress made so far. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote.

A report issued by White House economists last week downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association. Witt observed that bankers have varying views on stablecoins, depending on their proximity to the technology, and that some may view them more positively while others may feel threatened.
