On the XRP Ledger, this means a payment can be verified as valid, funded, and compliant without exposing sensitive details to the public ledger. The XRP Ledger already has significant institutional traction, with users including SBI Holdings, Zand Bank, Archax, and Guggenheim Treasury Services. Over $550 million has been invested in XRPL ecosystem initiatives, and the connection to Boundless provides these institutional users with a previously unavailable path to privacy.
The timing of this integration is notable, given the current discussions around blockchain cryptography, particularly in light of Google's quantum computing paper, which has prompted major chains to reevaluate their cryptographic assumptions. Zero-knowledge proofs are built on different mathematical foundations than elliptic curve cryptography and are considered quantum-resistant, making them a strategic addition to the XRP Ledger's infrastructure.
