Tom Duff Gordon, who served as the vice president of international policy at the US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, has made the decision to leave the company. Following nearly four years at Coinbase, Duff Gordon is set to join OpenAI, where he will assume the position of head of EMEA Policy, as disclosed by a Coinbase representative via email.
Prior to his tenure at Coinbase, Duff Gordon spent approximately 8.5 years working in banking at Credit Suisse. At the time of inquiry, he was unavailable for comment. As an expert in cryptocurrency regulations, Duff Gordon had previously highlighted an issue where UK banks were inadvertently restricting access to legitimate and compliant services for millions of customers, due to their failure to differentiate between low-risk operators registered with the Financial Conduct Authority and higher-risk entities.
