Investigation Underway into Mysterious Death of Crypto Fund Manager's Fiancée in Zanzibar

Joe McCann, the founder of Asymmetric, a prominent crypto investment firm, is currently under investigation by Tanzanian authorities following the alleged suicide of his fiancée, US influencer Ashly Robinson, during a trip to Zanzibar. Robinson, a 31-year-old lifestyle creator, was found unresponsive in a private villa at the luxury Zuri Zanzibar resort, where the couple was celebrating her birthday and recent engagement. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital. According to Zanzibar police, Robinson's death was confirmed as a suicide, but the investigation is ongoing due to a reported dispute between the couple. Hotel staff had separated the couple twice, sending them to separate rooms, before Robinson's death. McCann has been questioned by police and has been asked to remain in the country pending the results of Robinson's autopsy. The hotel has expressed its condolences and is cooperating fully with the local authorities and the US Embassy. Robinson's family has set up a GoFundMe page, seeking to raise $50,000 to cover travel costs and other expenses, expressing doubts about the official cause of death. McCann, with an estimated net worth of $45 million, is a well-known figure in the crypto industry, having led Asymmetric, a hedge fund and venture firm backed by prominent investors. However, he recently announced the shutdown of Asymmetric's Liquid Alpha Fund due to significant financial losses. The US State Department has offered its condolences to the Robinson family, while the Tanzanian police have not responded to requests for additional information.
