Patrick Witt, the executive director of the President's Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, has stated that efforts are ongoing to solidify the compromise that will propel the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act forward in the US Senate. In a recent interview, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground reached on stablecoin yield will endure, allowing the focus to shift to other outstanding issues. The compromise on stablecoin yield was a crucial milestone, as bankers had previously raised concerns that it could jeopardize their deposit base.

The Clarity Act has faced several hurdles, including illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request from Democrats to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. While Witt did not disclose the specific topics that have been resolved, he noted that significant progress has been made in the background, giving him confidence that the remaining issues can be addressed. The Clarity Act will require a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association.

Witt acknowledged that the banking sector has a wide range of views on the issue, with some banks viewing stablecoins more positively than others.
