Alchemy, a leading provider of cryptocurrency infrastructure, has introduced AgentPay, a groundbreaking tool that facilitates the integration of various AI payment systems from prominent companies such as Coinbase, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, and Circle. This innovative solution addresses the long-standing problem of incompatibility between these systems, which has hindered their ability to communicate with one another. As a result, merchants seeking to cater to AI agents as customers were required to develop separate integrations for each protocol, a process that is both time-consuming and unsustainable.
According to Alchemy's CTO, Guillaume Poncin, "AgentPay resolves this issue by allowing merchants to register their existing API with us, and in return, we provide them with a new endpoint that enables any agent on a supported protocol to make payments through it." As a pioneer in the Web3 space, Alchemy is often regarded as the 'AWS of Web3' due to its comprehensive range of infrastructure, developer tools, and node services that facilitate the development of blockchain applications. AgentPay promises to simplify the integration process by providing a single endpoint for multiple protocols, including x402, MPP, A2P, and L402. By acting as a translation layer, AgentPay routes instructions without directly handling funds, as emphasized by Poncin. The emergence of agentic finance, which is expected to play a vital role in online payment activities, often involves micro-transactions and nano-payments between AI agents, with human oversight in the background.
Following a private beta launch, Alchemy is poised to release AgentPay to the general public in the coming weeks.
