Patrick Witt, the primary crypto adviser to the White House, stated that efforts are underway to solidify the compromise that will facilitate the progression of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the U.S. Senate. In a recent interview on CoinDesk TV, Witt expressed optimism that the common ground achieved by key senators from both parties regarding stablecoin yield will endure. He noted that resolving this issue was essential before addressing other outstanding matters, which are currently being worked out behind the scenes.
The Clarity Act had faced several potential hurdles, including concerns over illicit financial protections in the decentralized finance space and a request from Democrats to bar senior government officials from profiting from the crypto sector. Witt declined to specify which topics have been settled but confirmed that significant progress has been made in the background. The Clarity Act requires a markup hearing in the Senate Banking Committee before it can proceed to a final Senate vote. A recent report from White House economists downplayed the threats posed by stablecoin yield, prompting a response from the American Bankers Association.
Witt acknowledged that the views of bankers on this issue are diverse, reflecting their varying levels of proximity to the technology.
